Meet Dr. Villanueva
Dr. Benito Villanueva, our Medical and Laboratory Director, has a long and successful career in the medical field, which makes him so effective for the development, growth and continuing appropriate focus of our clinics. After getting his MD degree at the University of Buenos Aires, ranked number one medical school in Argentina, he proceeded to a specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology, followed by Postdoctoral subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology, the field that focuses on all aspects of hormonal health in reproduction. His training was in world-class universities, such as Georgetown and University of Washington. He is fully trained and board certified in the specialty and subspecialty.
His next step was to be a full-time Medical School Professor teaching students, residents, fellows and other physicians at University of California, San Diego in La Jolla. His research interests are on cellular mechanisms of actions of reproductive hormones, such as estrogen , testosterone , progesterone and others. His clinical work has centered on advanced reproductive techniques to assist couples with infertility. Precisely, in 1982, he had the first successful IVF pregnancy in San Diego, only two years after the first US pregnancy and three years after the first world IVF pregnancy occurred.
Additional areas of interest and focus in his clinical work extend to hormonal support for men and women. He has one of the largest menopause and andropause clinics in San Diego, being expert in the management of natural hormone supplementation for men and women with exceptional results and careful attention to the general health needs of all patients. His extensive and firm experiences in medicine is paramount in the wisdom and care of the selection of programs and the quality control maintained in our clinics. Day-to-day Dr. Benito Villanueva is intimately involved in direct patient care for our Clinic’s clients, consulting with our highly trained and experienced Clinic technicians, and has a one-to-one advice and guidance for our patients, being easily and promptly reached by telemedicine.
